I’ve got a love of the outdoors- Interests outside fencing include walking / hiking / camping, fishing (coarse) and mountain biking. Up until September, my main hobby has been rock climbing which I do on a Tuesday night with a group of work colleagues, friends, and mates-of-mates. In summer it’s great climbing outdoors but dark nights and wet weather mean a move indoors onto ‘the plastic’ at one of the local climbing walls- it’s OK but pretty much a means-to-an-end to keep strong for the start of the new outdoor season. (Indoor sessions are really just about the beer at the end of the night whilst outdoor sessions are about soaking-up the scenery as well as soaking up a couple of real-ales at the end of the night). Been climbing all over the UK and done a bit of Alpine climbing in Chamonix. Had some great times, been to some great places, had loads of laughs, been sh*t scared, nearly come a cropper a time or two…. If anyone fancies a go- just ask!
My daughter Eleanor expressed an interest in taking fencing up as a hobby after ‘having-a-go’ on a school residential. My wife ‘Googled’ and hey-presto found the Wingerworth Fencing Club website.
I started bringing Eleanor and really fancied a go myself but at the time had commitments on a Wednesday until my son Alex moved up to Scouts on Friday which meant Weds nights were free. After the first taster lesson, I was hooked and now look forward to Monday dinner-times, Wednesday nights and Friday nights. So does my Wife-it means she can go on face-book without me tutting at her!
Bought some kit over Christmas, am now saving-up for a blade and am looking to enter some competitions before very long.
Oh yes……
I nearly forgot…
The most important thing……
LEFT HANDED!!!!!
